Qld: Gun dealer seeks compo
A far north Queensland gun dealer is seeking $750,000 in compensation from police because
the business is unviable due to new gun laws.
CRM Gunsports Pty Ltd, based in Cairns, has sought a Supreme Court judicial review
overturning a compensation payout made to them by the Commissioner of Police.
The payout of $50,000 followed an evaluation that they had lost 31 per cent financial
viability because of new gun laws banning the sale of some firearms following the 1996
Port Arthur massacre.
The Cairns gun dealer wants a full buyout of stock and equipment totalling $750,000
on the basis that the shop is no longer viable.
But police guidelines say that a dealer has to be more than 50 per cent unviable before
a complete buyout is justifiable.
Brisbane Supreme Court Justice RICHARD CHESTERMAN has reserved his decision.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteGreat information! Gun Dealer is a play field five columns wide and several rows tall. It supplies a large range of ex-military and other collectable firearms and accoutrements. Thanks a lot....
